Mental health matters

Apleona is proud to support the mental health charity Mind, and at the end of 2020 we donated £5000 to Leeds Mind.

Gemma Green, Community Fundraising Officer at Leeds Mind, said: ‘We have been blown away by Apleona’s generous donation, and are so grateful for their support, especially right now.

Many people who have never experienced mental health difficulties before have felt the impact of the pandemic; the situation has really brought it home that everyone in Leeds has mental health, just as everyone has physical health, and we all need to work to keep it in good condition.

It’s brilliant that more people are developing an awareness of their mental wellbeing, but it does mean that as a charity we have more to do than ever, at a time when our income from fundraising has decreased significantly with event cancellations.

Apleona’s donation will help us continue our work of supporting the mental health of anyone in Leeds and the surrounding areas, and work towards ‘better mental health for all’.

JanePodmore, Apleona’s HR Director adds: ‘We launched our first ever ‘Charity of the Year’ early last year, - little did we know that Covid-19 was on its way to change our lives.

We chose Mind as it was felt that it would be a perfect synergy to tie charity activity with improving mental health in the workplace, and this now extends to those working from home.

Although many of our fundraising plans were scuppered due to Covid-19, we were delighted to be able to donate to Leeds Mind at the end of the year, and help to raise awareness of the importance of encouraging good mental health practices.’
